Entry visas to the Republic of Belarus

According to the law of the Republic of Belarus «About the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens and Stateless Persons in the Republic of Belarus» from January 4, 2010, there are the following types of stay for foreign citizens and stateless persons:

So, the visa is a permit that allows to a foreigner the right to cross the State border of the Republic of Belarus for the purpose of entering the Republic of Belarus and (or) leaving the Republic of Belarus, staying in the Republic of Belarus or transit travel (transit) through the territory of the Republic of Belarus for the period specified in this permit, and executed in the manner prescribed by legislative acts and Visa Rules of the Republic of Belarus.

In accordance with the Visa Rules, the following types of entry visas are provided for in the Republic of Belarus:

B - transit;

C - short-term;

D - long-term.

Entry visas are divided into single, double and multiple.

A single entry visa gives the right to a single entry, stay and departure from the Republic of Belarus during the period specified in the entry visa and for the specified number of days of stay, but not more than 90 days in a calendar year from the date of entry into the Republic of Belarus.

A double entry visa gives the right to double entry, stay and leaving the Republic of Belarus during the period specified in the entry visa and for the specified number of days of stay, but not more than 90 days in a calendar year from the date of first entry into the Republic of Belarus.

A multiple entry visa entitles you to repeatedly (more than 2 times) enter, stay and leave the Republic of Belarus during the period specified in the entry visa and during the specified number of days of stay, but not more than 90 days in a calendar year from the date of first entry into the Republic of Belarus, unless otherwise provided by international treaties of the Republic of Belarus

Entry visas can be issue by:

1. diplomatic missions and consular offices of the Republic of Belarus;

2. the main consular department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs;

3. border guards.

To obtain an entry visa a foreigner submits to the authorities for issuing entry visas of the Republic of Belarus the following documents:

1. one copy of the visa application form on the form in accordance with the approved form;

2. one photo (size 35 x 45 mm, full-face, against an even light background, high-definition clarity, without wrinkles and ink, 70–80 percent of the vertical size of the picture should be taken by the face, the picture must not exceed 6 months)

3. documents for traveling abroad;

4. documents of visa support (provided depending on the purpose of the visit. For example, in case of issuing a study visa - the original invitation to study, agreed with the relevant department on citizenship and migration of the internal affairs agencies on private affairs - the original invitation, issued by the department on citizenship and migration of the Ministry of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus. 5. additional documents that are necessary for making a decision on the issuance of an entry visa (at the request of a consular officer);

6. a medical insurance contract concluded with Belgosstrakh or Beleximgarant, or a medical insurance contract concluded with any foreign insurance organization;

7. confirmation of the payment of the consular fee (the sizes are established by the Special Part of the Tax Code of the Republic of Belarus)

The decision on the application of the foreign citizen for the issue of an entry visa is made by the consular officer on the basis of the submitted documents the results of the audit and interview within 5 business days from the date of application (urgently - within 2 business days) and is final.

The consular officer has the right to reduce the multiplicity and duration of the visa, continue the period for consideration of the application, and he is not obliged, in case of refusal to issue a visa, to indicate the reasons for the refusal to issue a visa. In case of refusal to issue a visa, the consular fee is not refunded

 It should be noted the visa-free regime applicable at the checkpoint across the State border of the Republic of Belarus National Airport Minsk and temporary stay in Belarus for a period of not more than 30 days, established by Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus dated January 9, 2017 No. 8 for citizens of 74 states.
